Bateman Mangold Funeral Home (Dawn Tonneman)

About the Artwork: The Bateman Mangold Funeral Home which stood at 727 Market Street in Zanesville, Ohio and housed not only the funeral home but also doctor’s offices. It was demolished sometime after its purchase in 1957. This painting is featured in Jim Boyd’s book “Birth, Death, and Resurrection of a Golf Course (Mangold Country Club to Zanesville Jaycee Public Golf Course).

Meet the Artist: For Dawn, Art isn’t simply a creative outlet, but a way to capture lived experience. Most of her architectural works are of locations that she has visited and experienced. She works to not simply capture the likeness of the location, but the spirit and mood of the place as well. With her landscape works, she tries to create an environment that the viewer can imagine themselves inhabiting: feeling the sand between the toes and the sound of the waves of a seascape, smelling the flowers or hearing the birds within a country landscape.
